With a strong experience in top and middle management, our interim managers get involved on the strategic or operational level to ensure the success of their interim management missions.
Interim management was born in the United States and the Netherlands in the 1970s.
In France, this service appeared in the late 1980s and is now in a period of growth.
Interim Management places a highly qualified external professional in a strategic position in the company.
The company may find itself in urgent need of recruitment for various reasons: management emergency, turnaround, merger-acquisition, or performance improvement. This is usually during a phase of complex changes within the organisation.
Interim management brings considerable benefits in comparison to traditional recruitment processes :
Speed
a shortened recruitment period and immediately available interim managers.
Flexibility
customised intervention of our interim manager within a limited time frame.
Experience
an interim manager is a senior-level professional who possesses strong strategic and operational skills.
Companies choose interim management in order to temporarily strengthen the executive team. This solution can also help to fill a vacant position. The interim manager will operate in this function and at the same time pave the way for the future permanent manager.
Our clients appreciate the return on investment generated by interim managers.
In 2016, 43% of French companies have already resorted to interim management compared to 35% in 2015. How can we explain such an increase?
The interim manager is no longer confined to crises or emergency situations. The 2015 survey proved interim management is transitional by definition, but its role has become gradually anchored in corporate behaviour. An interim manager is responsible for managing a specific situation or a given project and fulfill that mission within a limited time. The impact is evident: companies seek interim managers because of their immense knowledge of the field and their extensive experience, especially in change management.
For the second edition of its annual survey, Delville Management wanted to focus on the opinon of interim managment clients, not only ask for feedback on their experience, but also to get to know them better: Who are the ones that have relied on interim management? What do they think of it? What do they expect from it? This year 1,100 managers in France and UK answered the online survey, almost twice as many as the first edition in 2015.
The 2016 Survey Results:
Increase usage of interim management: 43% resorted to interim management in 2016 compared to 35% in 2015. 21% worked with an interim manager 2 to 3 times in 2016 compared to only 16% in 2015.
Need for interims for multiple issues: 33% concern de-growth, restructuring or cession operations, 33% concern digital transformation, external growth or international development
Interim management is a flexible and relevant tool to face such challenges, and to carry out the considered and sometimes inevitable changes. It is, therefore, especially interesting to note that the perception of interim management remains as positive as in the past year in this demanding context.
This year, more than 1,100 managers answered the survey in France and in the UK.
