An Interim QHSE Director operational within 72 hours
A serious workplace accident, a formal notice on a classified installation or an ISO 45001 or ISO 14001 audit with no manager in post cannot wait for a recruitment. Delville Management presents profiles within 72 hours, and the selected Interim QHSE Director can take up the role within 5 days.

The responsibilities of an Interim QHSE Director
The Interim QHSE Director takes charge of the function from day one, with the teams in place. They deal with the emergency first, then get the QHSE system back in working order. If the need relates first and foremost to product quality or customer complaints, an Interim Quality Director is the right profile.
QHSE policy and integrated management system
When quality, safety and environment live in three separate systems, audits pile up and indicators contradict each other. The manager brings the three approaches together in an integrated system, with indicators common to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and a single audit calendar.
Occupational health and safety
An accident, a risk assessment document (DUERP) not updated since the previous holder left, overdue safety training: the manager takes prevention back in hand. They update the risk assessment, relaunch training and lead the ISO 45001 approach with frontline management.
Environment and classified installations
On an ICPE or Seveso site, each installation has its own requirements, and the inspectorate checks that they are met. The manager takes over environmental compliance: they review each installation, enforce the requirements on the ground and maintain ISO 14001 certification.

Crisis management after an accident or incident
After a serious accident or an incident on site, the manager organises the response from the first hours. They make sure mandatory declarations are submitted on time, lead the root cause analysis and build the action plan with management.

Responding to inspections and formal notices
A formal notice arrives with a deadline to meet. The manager builds the compliance plan, requirement by requirement, prepares exchanges with the inspectorate and drives each action forward until the deadline.

Quality system and ISO 9001 certification
A certification audit is approaching with no one to prepare it. The manager takes over the quality system, clears the non-conformities raised in audit and aligns the transition to the new version of ISO 9001 with the audits already scheduled.

Everything starts with precise scoping of your need: number of sites, certified standards, deadline to meet. Our teams then carry out a targeted selection of expert managers, and present their profiles to you. After your approval, the selected manager can take up the role. Their first task is a diagnosis followed by an operational action plan.
Each candidate goes through the same five-step selection. It runs from CV assessment to an in-depth interview with a Mission Director, via an interview with a Talent Connector, a personality test (optional) and systematic reference checks.
Each assignment is followed by a local expert, in direct contact with you, and by a Mission Director who is an expert in your sector. The assignment ends with a report and the transfer of knowledge to the team in place. We work from our offices in Paris, Lyon, Lille, Nantes, Toulouse and Strasbourg, as well as in Germany, Italy and Spain.
The Interim QHSE Directors presented by Delville Management have more than 20 years of experience on average.
They know how to meet a regulatory deadline: analysing an accident, preparing a certification audit, responding to a formal notice within the set period. They bring quality, safety and environment together in a single system, or relaunch a prevention approach. We also look for experience of ICPE or Seveso sites, when your site requires it.

Before hiring an Interim QHSE Director
How much does an interim QHSE assignment cost?
The daily rate of an Interim QHSE Director is on average between €800 and €2,500 per day. This amount varies according to three QHSE-specific factors: the site's ICPE or Seveso classification, the scope (an integrated system covering three standards or just one) and the situation (crisis after an accident or a planned project). The manager's expenses are paid at cost on receipts, or according to a daily allowance negotiated in advance with the company.
Over how many months does a QHSE assignment run?
At Delville Management, an interim management assignment lasts between 3 and 18 months depending on the client's requirements, the sector and the size of the company, and 9 months on average. On a QHSE assignment, it is often the deadline that sets the duration. The manager stays until the recertification audit, until the end of the period set by a formal notice, or for as long as it takes to overhaul the risk assessment document (DUERP) or the integrated system.
QHSE Director or Quality Director: which should you choose for your situation?
The choice between a QHSE Director and a Quality Director depends on the event that triggers the need. A workplace accident, a formal notice, a classified site or a system combining ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 call for a QHSE Director. A customer complaint or a product audit calls instead for a Quality Director, focused on product quality and processes.
What should you prepare before launching the search?
To scope an interim QHSE assignment, prepare five pieces of information: the company's sector and size, the number of sites and their ICPE regime or Seveso status, the certified standards with the dates of the next audits, the situation triggering the request (departure, accident, formal notice) and the estimated duration. On a chemical site classified ICPE or Seveso, the regime of each installation guides the choice of profile that Delville Management presents.
A certification audit is scheduled and the QHSE Director has just left: what should you do?
When the QHSE Director leaves before a scheduled certification audit, entrust the preparation of that audit to an interim manager, without waiting for a recruitment to be completed. The certification cycle includes a surveillance audit every year and a recertification audit every 3 years. In emergency management, Delville Management presents a manager who can take up the role within 5 days of approval, takes over the preparation plan and deals with any non-conformities still open.
